About Firette
Experience, applied where it earns its keep
Firette is the coming together of experienced business people in a number of fields to give advice that is aimed commercially — and to stay involved long enough for it to make a difference.
Who we are
Everyone involved with Firette has run something. We have built businesses, made mistakes in them, and come through to build stronger ones. Some have since sold or floated those companies; others are still steering theirs to new successes. That experience is the product: judgement earned in operating roles, not theory assembled from a template.
We are not a large consultancy with a big brand to protect, so we can be honest and direct in our advice. Being experienced professionals, we have the contacts to call on associates with a wide range of disciplines and experiences, calling on them as necessary to give the right advice for the situation.
We provide consultancy for clients in different sectors, placing people on site for analysis and recommendations, then working alongside your team to put those recommendations into effect.
How we work
We start by understanding the need. That means the commercial problem you are actually facing, not the one the brief describes. From there we agree a small number of realistic goals and a set of stretch targets we will push you towards, and we are explicit about what it will take to reach them — advice, money, introductions, or simply a decision someone has been avoiding.
We then meet regularly, by phone, video conference or face to face, and watch progress against those goals. We will not shy away from telling you where we think you are falling short, and we expect the same candour in return. Most of the time, though, the work is simply touching the rudder and building on the expertise you already have.
An experienced independent voice can help a company avoid pitfalls and make better decisions. Business realism can be injected into major decision making, encouraging entrepreneurial spirit and technical flair whilst channelling these into effective output.
Vertical Markets
Three sectors where we hold specific, current knowledge — of the legislation, the systems, the data and the people who make the decisions. In these markets we can be useful from the first meeting, because we do not need the sector explained to us.
Business Rates
Empty property and relief strategy, rates implications of changes to commercial properties, management of rates for serviced offices.
Business RatesBanking
Operational, regulatory and change inside banks and for the businesses that have to deal with them.
BankingIT Development
Delivery that is genuinely under control: architecture, estimates you can defend, and teams that deliver. We use AI tools in development to enhance productivity and ensure code quality.
IT DevelopmentHorizontal Markets
Three disciplines that apply whatever your sector. They are where most of our engagements begin, and they combine readily with the vertical work above.
Startups and Small Businesses
Hands-on support for companies with genuine potential: plan, goals, funding readiness and an experienced voice in the room.
Startups and Small BusinessesWebsite Application Development/Integration
Web applications that are built to be maintained, and made to talk properly to the systems around them. AI tools form a fundamental part of our development approach, although the human overview is key to the correct solution
Website DevelopmentBusiness Process
Finding where the work actually goes, then redesigning the process rather than automating the mess.
