Vertical Markets

Banking

Work inside banks, and work for the businesses that have to deal with them. Both need someone who already understands how the machinery moves.

The problem

Banking change is rarely blocked by the technology. It is blocked by the number of parties who have to agree, the age of the systems the change has to pass through, and the regulatory obligations that make "just try it" an unacceptable answer. Programmes that would take months elsewhere take years, and the cost of that delay is usually absorbed silently rather than measured.

Businesses on the other side of the counter face a mirror image of the same problem. Credit decisions, facility reviews, payment and treasury arrangements all run to a logic that is not visible from outside, so proposals fail for reasons that are never quite explained.

How we help

  • Operational and regulatory change — scoping what is genuinely required, separating the regulatory obligation from the interpretation that has grown up around it, and delivering against it.
  • Systems and data — migrations, integrations and reporting where reconciliation and auditability matter more than novelty.
  • Process and controls — removing the manual workarounds that accumulate around ageing systems, without weakening the control they were bolted on to provide.
  • Preparing to face the bank — for businesses seeking or renewing facilities: presenting the numbers, the risks and the mitigations the way a credit committee needs to see them.
  • Independent review — a second opinion on a programme that is slipping, delivered to the people who can act on it.

What an engagement looks like

Short, focused, and staffed by people who have done the work rather than only supervised it. We spend the first period listening — to the team doing the job, not only to the people sponsoring the change — and we report what we find plainly, including when the finding is that the programme should stop.

We are equally willing to tell a board that a programme is worth continuing and that it is not. The value of an independent voice disappears the moment it starts agreeing by default.

An independent view, quickly

Tell us where the programme is and what it is meant to achieve. We will tell you whether we can add anything — and if not, we will say so.
